Sister Rose Marie
On Thursday, May 7, a member of the Felician Sisters of Moon Township, for 76 years at the age of 94, at the Blessed Mary Angela Care Center in Buffalo, New York. Sister was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. and was the daughter of the late Alice (Pikulik) and Casimir Tumicki.
Her ministry to the Church was primarily in the field of elementary education where her teaching spanned 29 years in elementary education and 11 years in religious education in the following dioceses: Greensburg, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh, all in Pennsylvania; and Cleveland and Steubenville, in Ohio. In her service to community, Sister Rose Marie contributed of her talents as sacristan, local minister of the then provincial house, attendance clerk at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School and aide to the provincial secretary for a total of more than 20 years. As her health began to decline, she requested to be a resident of St. Francis Care Center in Coraopolis, and later, transferred to the Buffalo Care Center in New York.
Sister Rose Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Ralph and her sister, Lilian Wagner. Sister is survived by her niece Mary (Bob) Burant. In addition, Sister Rose Marie leaves behind approximately 1200 Felician Sisters worldwide.
Burial will be private and will take place at the Felician Sisters Cemetery in Coraopolis, PA, on Monday, May 11th. A Memorial Mass will take place at a later time.
