Patricia Ann (DelMonte) Kozar, age 76 of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday night, September 24, 2023 at Good Samaritan Hospice of Wexford. Born in Sewickley Hospital as the eldest child of the late Phillip (Satch) DelMonte and Elsie Mangin, she is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph A. Kozar; sons Patrick Kozar of Coraopolis and Scott (Arlene) Kozar of Sewickley; her absolute pride and joy, grandsons Trent Joseph Kozar and Troy Phillip Kozar, both of Sewickley; twin sister Phyllis Moore of Beaver and brother James (Deborah) DelMonte of Beaver; many nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and nephews; and extended family and many friends. Her life revolved around her family. She was an angel on earth to them.
Both a lifelong resident of Coraopolis and lifelong member of Saint Joseph Parish, Patricia (known as Trisha to her Italian side of the family and as Patti to everyone else) was part of the inaugural class at Saint Joseph School attending from Kindergarten through eighth grade. She then moved onto Coraopolis High School and graduated in 1965 where she, among many other accomplishments, captained the cheerleading squad her senior year. Upon graduation, she matriculated to California University of Pennsylvania with aspirations of becoming a grade-school teacher. Heavens, what a teacher she would have been with her attention to detail, neatness and caring nature for all children. After two years, however, she left college and started her family. Once her boys were both of school age, she embarked on her work career and is best remembered for her long tenure as a waitress at Junior’s Restaurant in Coraopolis, where she so often brightened a patron’s day with her energy and infectious smile.
Patricia never missed a school or sporting event for one of her sons or beloved grandsons. She was a longtime volunteer at the Saint Joseph Parish Festival. She loved just spending time with her family, cooking, baking, reading, gardening, Saturday morning yard sales and making her famous plate of homemade gnocchi with tangy, homemade marinara sauce. But perhaps what she loved the most was taking every opportunity to tell her sons how and when to get something done – her way. She was loved by all and will be missed for always!
Per her instructions, there will be no visitation. Prayers for immediate family only will be in the Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home in Coraopolis at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial for all in Saint Joseph Church, Fifth Avenue in Coraopolis, PA at 10:00 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Moon Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Heritage Valley Health System, UPMC Outpatient Center in Moon Township, UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospice of Wexford and/or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Pittsburgh. Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at those institutions from which she received loving care.
