Lucille A. Janessa

Lucille Janessa, age 71, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living, South Hills, after a long illness.

“Lu” was a native of Coraopolis and a student at St. Joseph Catholic  Elementary School for eight years. She graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1970. A longtime employee of the PA State Welfare Department, she enjoyed an early retirement in Neville Island with Taffy, her beloved Corgi of 14 years.

She was a long time member of V.F.W. Auxiliary 402 and lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Lu could be found most Wednesdays at the Coraopolis V.F.W., playing bingo with her mother, Evelyn (Marino) Janessa; Grandmother Blanche (Caniglia) Marino and many old friends.

Lu was predeceased by her father, Arthur Janessa, in 1997 and mother, Evelyn, in 2022.  She had no siblings and is survived by many cousins from Pittsburgh, Florida, Oregon and Chicago, who will miss her greatly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Coraopolis on Wednesday, October 4, at 10AM.  There will not be a visitation.
