Lawrence D. ‘Larry’ Romboski, Jr. age 60, of Cranberry Township, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024 with his wife Rosemary by his side, after a 10-month pancreatic cancer journey. ‘Rombo’ as he was affectionally known by family, friends and colleagues, was the son of the late Dr. Lawrence D. Romboski and Joanne K. Romboski.
Larry graduated from California Area High School in 1982 and from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Computer Science in 1986. While at California Area High School, Larry was one of the finest basketball players in California High School history, inducted into the 1000 Point Club with 1268 career points.
He had a 35-year career in the steel industry beginning in 1989 at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, with plans to retire this year from NLMK where he held the position of Vice President of Sales for the last 25 years. Larry was a long time parishioner of Saints John & Paul Catholic Church in Franklin Park, PA., an avid golfer and 20-year member of the Sewickley Heights Golf Club. He traveled the country for work as well as golf, where he played some of the finest courses with his golf buddies. He was also passionate about his lawn, constantly working to achieve the best grass in the neighborhood, alongside Rose who maintained their gardens. Larry was so positive and optimistic even when faced with such a terrible illness. He had a mantra “Today is a Good Day for a Good Day,” which he truly lived by. Larry was also charismatic and engaging, always wanting to authentically get to know a person and form a bond. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Rosemary, mother Joanne Romboski, sisters Joyce McKnight (Chris) and Lynn Messman (Chris), nieces Macy, Lindsay, Alexis McKnight, Molly Messman, Alivia Sanvito-Miller (Tyler), Ava Harkins, Abby Mikulich and nephews Michael Messman (Sarah), Max and Ryan Harkins.
Family and friends will be welcomed on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 12 - 8 PM in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave., Coroapolis, PA. A prayer service will take place in the funeral home on Friday morning at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, Coraopolis.
