Kurtis John Sutherland was born in Avon Lake, Ohio on November 4, 1977, the son of Mary Leona McAleer and Joseph Allen Sutherland, Sr; grandson of Frank and Pat Sutherland, and Ben and Diane McAleer. He spent the first part of his childhood in Ohio, enjoying time with his brothers and cousins. He loved to draw and spend time with his friends. He moved to Pittsburgh when he was 11 where he settled in Coraopolis with his mother and brothers and met the friends who would become his second lifelong family. Kurt was always ready with a kind word, a loving smile, and an incredible hug to provide support and comfort to his family and friends. Kurt was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, Benjamin Paul Sutherland, and he is survived by his parents, his daughters Jessica and Kaylee DiPiero and Lilly Rae Sutherland, grandchildren MiaBella Young and Braydon Thomas DiPiero and his brother, Joseph Allen Sutherland, Jr. and nephews Benjamin and Tristan Sutherland. To know Kurt was to love him, and his passing leaves a big hole in all of our hearts.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23 from 2 to 4 PM in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis, followed by a blessing service at 4 PM. Interment will be private.
Friends and family welcome you to join us for a dinner at The Hub, 912 4th Ave., Coraopolis, PA. The family has created a GoFundMe for donations to defray funeral expenses and provide additional support to Kurt’s daughters during this difficult time, and please also consider a donation to SAMSHA in Kurt’s honor. This opiate epidemic needs to draw to a close, and we are all in this together.
