Joseph A. Stromei, soon to be 94 years of age, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022. Known to many as "Joe the Butcher", a lifelong meat cutter who enjoyed making people happy curing homemade prosciuttos, along with a seasonal business during hunting season, Joe's Deer Processing. He retired as a meat manager from Kroger and Giant Eagle. After retirement, Joe enjoyed working part-time at Allegheny Country Club until the age of 91. He was loved by all as he brought life and laughter to every occasion with his joyful greeting and welcoming everyone at any time.
Joe was born in Tocco Da Casauria, Italy. He was preceded in death by his parents Quintino and Adelia (Toppi) Stromei, his sister, Maria Stromei Alberici, and his daughter, Adelia Stromei Spaniol. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ida (DeAmicis) Stromei, daughter, Lydia Stromei, son, Joseph Stromei (Gloria Rayman), grandchildren, Derrick Spaniol (Gretchen), and Kyle Spaniol (Samantha), great-grandchildren, Giada, Francesca, and Thomas, his sisters, Rina Stromei DeDominicis, and Nella Stromei Berardi, along with many nieces and nephews both in Italy and the United States.
Family and friends will be welcomed on Sunday from 6-8pm and on Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis. A Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joesph Church, Coroapolis, The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
