Jeannette Marie (Mecaro) Formosa

Jeannette Marie Formosa (née Mecaro), formerly of Hopewell and Kennedy Township, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. She lived a remarkable life, filled with love, creativity, and a spirit that touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She has now been reunited with her beloved husband of 48 years, William Joseph Formosa Sr.

Jeannette was born on January 2nd, 1936 to Joseph and Antoinette Mecaro. She was a devoted sister of Victoria Ciangiarulo, who, along with brothers Louis Mecaro, and Joseph Mecaro, preceded her in death.

Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she took great pride in her role as a loving mother, wife, sister, and aunt. Jeannette found joy in her children and their families. She is survived by Martha and her husband Robert Hirasuna, William Formosa Jr. and his wife Lynn, David Formosa and his wife Marina, and her two beautiful grandsons, Hadrian and Octavian. Jeannette leaves behind her beloved brother, Anthony Mecaro, his wife Lorraine, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jeannette was an artist at heart, expressing her creativity through painting and drawing. Her love for art was matched only by her enthusiasm for opera, country music, the beach, square dancing, ballet, sewing, reading, gardening, and shopping. She always found time to get her nails done and stop for a Chai Tea Latte at Starbucks. A lifelong learner, she received an associate degree at 46 and worked at the Community College of Allegheny County for over 35 years. She loved spending time outdoors appreciating the beauty around her, walking on the Montour Trail, or driving in her maroon convertible, no matter the weather, hair blowing and the heater on full blast.

A woman of faith, she was a devoted member of St. Malachy's Church, where she found community and fulfillment through her spiritual connections.

As we celebrate the life of Jeannette, we remember her not just for her many talents and interests, but for the love she radiated to her family and friends. She was a beacon of light in their lives, and her legacy will continue to shine through her children and grandchildren.

Jeannette's positive outlook on life left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be dearly missed, but lovingly remembered. We are grateful for the time we shared with her.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation for Jeannette on Friday, March 21st, 2025, 10:00 AM - Noon, with a Blessing Service beginning at Noon, in the Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave, Coraopolis, PA 15108. The burial will immediately follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Rd, Coraopolis, PA 15108.
