Dr. Raymond Lancione Sr., 92, of Moon Township, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan hospice in Wexford, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Coraopolis PA in 1932, he is survived by his brother Gregory Lancione of Akron and his son Dr. Raymond Lancione Jr. of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jesse (Giustini) and parents Orazio and Emily (Spezialetti) Lancione.
After graduating from Coraopolis High School, Dr. Lancione pursued his lifelong ambition to become a dentist. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with a Doctorate in Dental Science. He became a strong supporter of his Alma Mater, where he served on the Admissions Committee for the Dental School and on the Alumni Council, acting as their President at one time.
Dr. Lancione opened his first and only practice in McDonald PA and practiced dentistry there for more than 60 years.
Throughout his professional career, he was a member of the Dental Society of Western PA, often serving in various offices and on many committees there, and also with the local Chartiers branch. He was a member of the Odontological Society, having served as president from 1983-1984. He represented the Dental Society of Western PA for many years on the Board of Directors of the Medical Bureau of Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that benefited the Community at large, granting funds to help the public receive dental care.
Dr. Lancione also served in the Pennsylvania Dental Association, as vice-president from 1988-1989, as secretary of their Board of Trustees, in their House of Delegates and on numerous committees. He served multiple times at the National level on the American Dental Association House of Delegates and on ADA Committees as well.
Among his many awards and accolades from the dental community are their highest awards: from the DSWP – the Dr. Albert R. Pechan Award, and the PDA – the Pennsylvania Dental Association Distinguished Service Award.
Nominated by his peers, he was inducted into multiale honorary dental organizations, including: American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy, where he served over a lifetime holding positions of stature.
At 92, he continued to actively serve on the Board of Directors for the DSWP and the Medical Bureau of Pittsburgh until the time of his death.

Visitation will be at the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 Fourth Ave., Coraopolis, PA, on Wednesday, May 22, from 2 to 8 PM. Catholic funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 23, beginning with a prayer service at 9 a.m. and Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1301 Fourth Ave, Coraopolis, PA, at 10 a.m. An entombment service at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg, PA, will immediately follow the funeral services.
