Charles DiVecchio Obituary

Charles D. DiVecchio, age 95, of Stowe Township, passed away on November 4, 2024.  Charles was born on February 18, 1929.  He was a first-generation Italian-American; the son of Pasquale and Desolina, immigrants from Sant'Eufemia a Maiella, Italy.  Along with his siblings Joseph, Salvatore (Sam), Edward (Duetchie), and Helen (Vinci), Charles was raised in the “Norwood” neighborhood of Stowe Township.  He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.  Upon his honorable discharge, Charles began working at Pittsburgh Coke and Chemical as a millwright.  He was a lifelong Steelworker who went on to hold the position of Sub-Director of District 20 of the U.S.W.A. for years prior to his retirement.  He was devoted to public service, serving on the Sto-Rox School Board, both as a member and also as the president, for many years.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.  He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen Branchik.  He is survived by his four children, Pat DiVecchio, Beth (Mike) Berrigan, Lisa DiVecchio, and Mike (Deb) DiVecchio; his three grandchildren Stephen (Lacey) Berrigan, Cara Berrigan, and Luc DiVecchio, his great-granddaughter Judy Berrigan; and, his many much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:45am, November 15, 2024, at Holy Trinity Church, Archangel Gabriel Parish, Robinson Township.  Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  A private viewing for family and friends will be held from 9-10am, at the Sanvito Funeral Home, Coraopolis, 1316 4th Ave.  412-771-7777
