Carmella M. DePace, 89, of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Hillview Home, Inc., under Hospice Care. Born on April 13, 1935, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late James and Lucy (Occhipinti) Calabrese. Carmella was a devoted member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Coraopolis. She was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone before becoming a wife and stay at home mother. After raising her 7 children; she later retired as a school cafeteria manager for the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh.
Carmella was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Anthony M. DePace, as well as her two sons, Anthony (Dorothy) DePace and William (Charlene) DePace. She was also preceded by her brothers Samuel, Michael, and James Calabrese, her in-laws Anthony and Margaret (Hanis) DePace, and her sister-in-law Sr. M. Benita D. DePace of the Felician Sisters of North America.
She is survived by her children: Luanne DePace, James (Joy) DePace, Roseann (Ted) Villella, Michael (Leslie) DePace, and Stephen (Teresa) DePace; 9 grandchildren, including Christina DePace, James DePace, Sara DePace, Matthew DePace, Samuel DePace, Michael Carlson, Michael DePace, Suzanna DePace, and Ava Marie DePace; as well as 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Josephine Vitale, and brother, Anthony Calabrese, along with many other relatives and friends.
Carmella was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and matriarch of her family. She contributed her time and service to various community events, including those at St. Joseph Parish in Coraopolis, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy and Convent in Moon Township, and the Moon Township food bank. She especially treasured events that brought her family, relatives, neighbors, and friends together, and always looked forward to creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Her life is to be celebrated with remembrance of the love, joy, warmth, and laughter she brought to those around her. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift all who knew her by her dedication, commitment, hard work, and determination for her family and friends. She provided rich traditions to her family and those she loved.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Hillview Home, Inc.; a personal care home for women; for their love, caring, and compassion for their mother.
Family and friends will be welcomed on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 4th Ave., Coraopolis. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Friday morning beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph Church, Coroapolis. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Felician Sisters at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Convent, 1500 Woodcrest Ave. Moon Township, Pa., 15108 and the residents and staff at Hillview Home, Inc., 615 Cornell St. Coraopolis, Pa., 15108.
