Yolanda Viola Roncone, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 22, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Yolanda was two weeks shy of her 96th birthday. To many people in Coraopolis, she was Mrs. Roncone or Vi, the Cornell Elementary School secretary for many years. During that time, she helped many young students and some teachers make it through some difficult days. They will remember her as always helpful and caring.
To her family though, she will be remembered as Mom, Grandma, "Grandma Cone" or Aunt Yo. Loved by all, she returned that love with generosity and her caring nature. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family.
A Coraopolis girl all her life, Yolanda was the last surviving member of the original Sixth Avenue Casasanta family founded by the marriage of Gaetano Casasanta and Gaetana Tarquinio in 1915. All eleven of her siblings, Lydia Cesidio, Samuel, Chester, Dora, Roland, Oliver, Alma, Mary, Diana, and Laraine have passed. Her beloved husband Wilbert "Ace" Roncone passed in 1963. Yolanda never remarried. She remained faithful to her husband to the end.
Yolanda is survived by her three children and their spouses, Barbara and George Mihalyi, Wilbert and Patricia Roncone and Thomas and Diane Roncone; her seven grandchildren, Brian (Ruth) Mihalyi, Brad Mihalyi and Matt (Amanda) Mihalyi, Doug (Nicole) Roncone, Kelly (Paul) Zappas, Marc (Julie) Roncone and Paul (Paul) Roncone; and her six great-grandchildren, Sophia and Ava Roncone, Violet and Melanie Zappas, Aria Roncone and Grayson Mihalyi.
Her family was her life's work, a work well done. Yolanda Viola Roncone will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coraopolis Library.
Friends received in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 Fourth Ave, Coraopolis on Monday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 am in St Joseph Church. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET IN CHURCH. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.
