Doris Mae Detz, 95, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2017 at the West Hills Nursing Facility in Moon Township with her son Jack by her side.  She will finally be reunited with her loving husband Joseph, who passed away in 2006.

Doris Mae Mance, was born on May 16, 1922 in Coraopolis, PA as an inseparable twin sister to Dolores                   ("Dee" and "Do"), and elder loving sisters Angela and Evelyn.  The four Mance sisters were born, raised, and nurtured by their loving parents, Albert and Susan Mance or 614 Locust Street in Coraopolis.  Albert Mance had immigrated from Scanno, Italy in the early 1900's at the age of 17 and shortly after met and married Susan Gammiere.  A piano was the centerpiece of the Mance's home and you could always hear laughter and smell spaghetti sauce throughout this warm home.

Doris Mae was the tom-boy of the Mance girls and was truly an excellent athlete, preferring to play baseball and golf, and always following her beloved Pittsburgh Pirates.  She kept score of most Pirate games and sometimes skipped high school classes to sneak up to Forbes Field and take in a day game.

Doris worked in the accounting department at Kaufmann's in Pittsburgh as an assistant controller during WWII and then met Corporal Joseph J. Detz, a handsome drill instructor for the U.S. Marine Corp. on Paris Island. Joseph's active war duty included a long stint in the Pacific Theatre, culminating in fighting and being wounded on Iwo Jima. They fell in love and were married in Coraopolis in 1945.

All of Doris' sisters and their husbands have long passed away, including Angela and Walt Bajek, John and Evelyn Pavlakovich, and Anthony and Dolores Rossi.  Dee and Do co-ordinated many Coraopolis High School class reunions, cruises, and other events with two other classmates, Marian and Olga, and these four ladies were affectionately known as the "MODD Squad"

Doris leaves behind four children, Albert (and his wife Merrily) Detz,  Barbara (and her husband Norm) Law, Jack (and his wife Linda) Detz, and Debra Bachman,  as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and in-laws John and Lucille Detz.  She also leaves behind many good close friends, including Katherine, Ethyl, Ruth, Vicki, Marge, Nancy, Barb, Tina and Michele at West Hills Nursing Facility.

Family and Friends will be received on Monday, August 21, 2017, from 2-4 PM to 6-8 PM in the Sanvito Funeral Home, 1316 Fourth Avenue, Coraopolis PA.  Prayers will be offered in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph Church at 9:30AM.  Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.
